First of all, today is International Women’s Day! Although this day is not a national holiday, it is still a very important day to remember for both men and women. This 2019, the motto for the year is “Balance For Better”. The focus is all about balance.
History
Here are some interesting facts about the International Women’s Day:
- The first original “National Women’s Day “ started in New York by the Socialist Part of America in 1909.
- Finally, in 1975, the United Nations adopted the term International Women’s Day.
- In 1977, the United Nations General Assembly has their member states to adopt the International Women’s Day of March 8th as a day for “Women’s rights and world peace”.
International Women’s Day 2019

Since 2010, the committee for International Women’s Day began to focus on different themes and issues that women often faced in their daily lives. Hence, this year of 2019, the theme is “Balance For Better.”
According to this year’s theme, balance representation among men and women in our communities, like boardrooms, workplaces, is very important.
It is time to really think about the cultural, social, economical and political achievements of the women all over the world. We should be able to easily find more information about them. There should be more support to help increase this balance.
One excellent way to support this International Women’s Day is to look for businesses run by women. Then, you can start to support the women entrepreneurs in your community. You can either support their businesses through purchases or you can show your support through social media! Every single “like” and “share” that you do on social media platforms help increase their exposure.
As I get older, I start to understabd the importance of this day much more. This was a very informative post. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for writing this post because I was honestly not sure what International Women’s Day was about. Keep up the good work.
I really appreciate this history lesson. It’s great to know where we come from and where we hope to be in the future. The celebration of women and the hope to achieve equal opportunity is an important part of our future development. Great job.
You make a great suggestion for how to better balance for women entrepreneurs!

This is awesome! I didn’t know these facts behind IWD! I definitely think it’s important to keep into perspective that equal representation does not deny the presence of men, but simply allows women to be front and centre equally! Great post!

You’re right – supporting women-led businesses is a great way to support women. We really are very important consumers and the way we spend can better support ourselves and other families.
Thank you for sharing.
Super interesting! I didn’t know most of these
Excellent post. Every women needs to understand the importance of this day to embrace their existence.
awesome and informative post! <3
Great job sharing the history of IWD! In addition to supporting women-owned business, it’s important and fun to support women bloggers!
There is so much back and forth about whether women are looking for ‘special treatment’ or what equality really means, but I feel like ‘balance’ says it perfectly… Thanks for sharing!
