Mother’s Day, the Zero-Waste Way
Time flies and May is here! The weather is finally warming up. It’s nice to finally be able to see more blue skies and sunshine. A couple months back, March was a month that we celebrate womanhood. Now in May, it is time for Mother’s Day. Let us start the month to focus on the “mother’s” in our lives.
In my opinion, Mother’s Day is a day that celebrates not only the mothers of the world. This day also can include the aunties, the stepmothers, the godmothers and especially, the grandmothers.
Zero-Waste Gift Ideas
There are many types of gifts that you can purchase of these amazing women. Why don’t we ponder on the following ones.
- Picnics: -Since the weather is warmer now, you can take her out to a beautiful park and have a picnic. Remember to bring zero waste utensils like reusable forks and spoons, snack bags and napkins. Use an old bedsheet instead of those plastic tablecloths to lay on the grass.
- Museums: -Why not visit a museum that she used to take you to when you were a child? You can chat and reminisce about your past memories with her. This can show her that you do remember still.
- Photoshoot: -Time never stands still. Photos on the other hand, help capture the moment. You can either hire a local photographer for a professional photoshoot, or be the photographer yourself! You can then give her a digital copy of the side show as a gift.
Wishing all the mothers, grandmothers, aunties, stepmothers, godmothers and special women in the world a wonderful Mother’s Day this coming week!
