Every year, April 22 is celebrated as the anniversary of the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970. On this day, various events, activities, and challenges are held to demonstrate the support for environmental protection.
How did it all begin? Around 50 years ago, environmental issues like smog and pollution led to the developmental delays in children. There was a heavy use of pollutants, pesticides, and as a result, biodiversity simply started to decline in the US.
So due to this scenario, almost 20 million Americans came to the parks, streets, and auditoriums to demonstrate a healthy and sustainable environment on April 22, 1970. And since its inception, it continues to grow as a worldwide event, which was focused on a clean and a healthy habitat for both humans and wildlife.
Moreover, this day also serves as a reminder of the current environmental issues and what can be done to protect it.
